Operational leasing: the questions we hear most.
What can be leased?
Essentially the whole IT estate: desktops and laptops, servers and NAS, printers and multifunction devices, network equipment, smartphones and tablets, monitors and peripherals. From a single device to the entire fleet.
How is the fee treated in the accounts?
Operational leasing is a service contract: the fee sits among operating costs and does not tie up capital the way a purchase does, so the spend becomes predictable and does not hit cash flow. The tax treatment of your specific case should be confirmed with your accountant: that judgement is not ours to make.
How long does a contract run?
Typically 36 months, with the option to renew early if your needs change before the end of the term.
Can I keep the devices at the end?
Yes. At the end of the term you can buy the devices out at residual value, or renew the fleet with current-generation technology.
Is leasing better than buying?
It depends on the asset, and the answer is not always leasing. For technology that ages quickly, leasing avoids the upfront outlay, keeps the cost predictable and removes the obsolescence problem. Buying remains the right call when the hardware has a long life, or when there are investment incentives worth taking. What decides it is how fast that asset loses value, not the formula itself.
Is support included?
Yes. Configuration, delivery, installation and technical support on the leased devices are included for the whole term of the contract.
