Wi-Fi worthy of a Grand Hotel.
How BIT Informatica brought Wi-Fi 6 connectivity to a historic 5-star hotel — 164 access points, 7 floors, 10 days of work.
A century of history. Legendary guests.
The Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte is one of Italy’s great historic hotels: 5-star luxury in Viareggio, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, opened in 1922. Over a hundred years of excellence in signature hospitality.
History has literally passed through here: Marlene Dietrich, Marcello Mastroianni, Modugno, Mina, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. A place where luxury is measured even in the most invisible details — like the quality of the connection.
When the hotel began a major renovation project in 2023, it chose to renew its entire network infrastructure too, entrusting the design and implementation to BIT Informatica.
Luxury connectivity in a historic building.
Before the renovation, Wi-Fi coverage was insufficient in many areas. The 2023 overhaul was the right opportunity — but the challenges were significant.
Signal-blocking historic walls
The 1922 building has thick walls that strongly attenuate the signal. Every room required a dedicated solution for uniform coverage.
Tight timelines
Installation had to be completed within the renovation schedule, without impacting hotel operations. Every day mattered.
Full coverage across 7 floors
Rooms, spa, offices, breakfast rooms, corridors, terraces, car park, restaurant: every area needed the right access-point model.
5-star standards
Guests at the Principe di Piemonte have the highest expectations. An unstable connection is not acceptable at a Leading Hotels of the World property.
Tailored design. Delivered in 10 days.
BIT designed the entire network infrastructure, choosing the most suitable Cambium Networks access-point model for each area, balancing performance, coverage and aesthetic integration in the historic building.
Before installation, the team carried out a structured cabling phase to reach rooms with no connectivity or obsolete cabling — a fundamental prerequisite for the stability of the whole network.
The 11 cnMatrix EX2028P switches are distributed across 7 levels in a redundant configuration, ensuring service continuity even if a single node fails. The entire network is managed centrally from the cnMaestro™ cloud platform, allowing real-time remote monitoring and intervention.
164 access points, 11 switches, a single control room.
