Italy’s National Electronic Register for Waste Traceability (RENTRI) has introduced the digitisation of load/unload registers and waste-transport forms in successive phases. The last registration window set by Ministerial Decree 59/2023 closed on 13 February 2026. A complex obligation, full of bureaucratic pitfalls.
The waste form goes digital
The FIR transport form can be issued on paper, as an alternative to digital, only until 15 September 2026. From that date penalties on data transmission to RENTRI also apply.

Penalties up to €30,000 for a register that isn’t up to date or is incorrect, or for a declaration not submitted (Art. 258, Italian Legislative Decree 152/2006). EasyWaste substantially reduces the risk of non-compliance.

Does my company have to register with RENTRI?

What does EasyWaste actually do?
It keeps the chronological loading and unloading register in digital form, generates the waste identification forms and transmits movements to RENTRI within the required deadlines. Before the data leaves, register specialists review it: errors are caught while they can still be corrected.
Is compliant retention included?
No, and it is better said upfront. The documents EasyWaste produces are ready to be retained, but qualified retention is a separate service, activated separately. If you do not already have one, we can set it up alongside.
What changes on 15 September 2026?
From that date the form can no longer be issued on paper as an alternative to the digital format, and the penalties on failing to transmit, or incompletely transmitting, data to RENTRI begin to apply. We cover it in full in our article on the digital FIR.
